The full story
Ten beats.
Twenty years of work.
Beat 1
The problem
Early twenties. Hair thinning. Tom tried tablets, minoxidil, hair fibres. None of it worked. Looking in the mirror and not being happy with what he saw. The hair loss knocked him back, it stopped him socialising, building relationships, putting himself out there.
Beat 2
Rock bottom
A hair transplant consultation. His donor hair wasn’t good enough.
“Absolutely devastating. Thinking there was no options out there and I would have to accept it.”
Beat 3
The refusal to accept it
“I didn’t want to lose myself and hoped there had to be an option that would make me feel better.”
Beat 4
Finding systems, and the vulnerable first fitting
Tom found hair systems. He tried one. It wasn’t great. The honesty about this beat is what makes the rest of the story credible.
“It wasn’t great, it was overwhelming and I had anxiety due to how daft I looked, but I stuck with it and did everything I could to make it better.”
Beat 5
The transformation lands
Once Tom got it right, friends and family noticed.
“They were shocked at first but now they look at me for just me, not with a hair system on.”
Beat 6
Close friends start asking
“When close friends approached me who were having the same struggles as I did.”
That was the catalyst. Tom started fitting systems on people he knew.
Beat 7
The garden shed start
At the time, Tom was working full-time at Rolls-Royce as an engineer.
“I had a full time great career at Rolls-Royce, but deep down I knew this could be something remarkable.”
He didn’t have the funds for a premises. So he started fitting from his garden shed.
“I didn’t have the funds to get a premises, but I did have the passion, drive and determination to get this where it needed to be.”
Beat 8
First paying client
“It was when we had our first paying client. It looked so good. I knew this was going to work.”
This is the official founding date of Hair Repair Club. Everything before this was unpaid friend-fittings out of a garden shed in the evenings, after a full day at Rolls-Royce.
Beat 9
The relentless work no one sees
“The years and years of relentless hard work I have put in, the 18-hour days, the sleepless nights, fighting harder than ever to get this where it is.”
Hair repair is a craft, not a passive income play. Tom is open about that. The students who succeed in this work understand it from day one.
Beat 10
The vision, now
Tom now travels the world fitting systems and delivering training. HRC has 18 specialist locations across 5 countries on 4 continents. 500+ professionals trained through the education arm.
“Building a powerful global network. Hair Repair will be a global company and lead the way and set the standard for men’s hair replacement.”
