How My Journey Really Started

My honest story — losing my hair, hitting rock bottom, and finding the path that changed my life.

Hi, I’m Tom — owner and founder of the Hair Repair Club. This first video is a completely honest look at where this journey actually began for me.

In my early 20s, my hair started thinning fast.
I tried everything — hair fibres, minoxidil, tablets… even went for a transplant.
And I got told my donor hair wasn’t good enough.

That moment crushed me. I felt like I’d hit rock bottom and had no options left.

Eventually I stumbled across men’s hair systems.
But back then, they weren’t great.
They looked unrealistic, almost “wig-like.”
Even when I got my first system fitted, I walked out feeling worse — anxious, embarrassed, and honestly ready to rip it off and give up.

But I didn’t.

I kept going. I learned new techniques, tried new systems, tested different products, and slowly found a way to make it look realistic — something I could feel confident wearing.

And that’s when everything changed.

I was working as an engineer at Rolls Royce at the time.
What started as something I did for myself — and then for a few friends — became a side hustle.
Then it became a full business.
I started in my dining room and my garden shed because that’s all I had.
Not because I had a big vision — because I had no funds for anything else.

And that small beginning has now grown into something global.

Most people think hair loss is just a confidence issue — but it can also be a business opportunity.
This industry is a sleeping giant.
Right now, there are more people wanting this service than people offering it.

If you’ve ever thought,
“I’m not a barber,”
“I’m not a hairdresser,”
“This can’t work for me…”

I get it.
I felt the same.
But I’m living proof — you do NOT need a hair background to succeed in this industry.

One of my students last year had never picked up clippers or scissors.
Three months later, he had a full-time men’s hair replacement business.

Just like me — an engineer — you can learn this skill, master it, and build something meaningful.

That’s what this first video is all about:
Where I started.
What I felt.
And how this became my life’s work.

I started with no experience, no confidence, and no money — just belief and a shed.

If I can build something from that, so can you.
